Swine Flu, H1N1

The latest nasties hit home. My niece is now quarantined with her young husband and daughter in Australia. She is struck down with H1N1. It's no fun, both her mum and mum-in-law are not allowed to visit her.

Here is a Roselle flower for you. Have plenty of rest and recover soon.

Before I went on my holidays, I was really worried. The Ministry of Health of New Zealand had a recommendation to schools that anyone who went overseas should quarantine themselves for 7 days. I had already bought my ticket, and would incur a penalty of $400 if I canceled. Then at one of my destinations, Singapore, if you had swine flu, you will be quarantined at Chalet Aloha. The name sounds romantic, but the camp was as basic as could be.

At the Brunei airport, all personnel at the airport were masked. There were masked passengers sitting outside the transit lounge. It appeared that they were not allowed into the country.

Luckily, swine flu did not became the worrisome disease. We had a great holiday.

Poor niece and her husband and daughter.

I hope your niece and her family will be better. We need to built our immunity system. The Aloha Resort has been deactivated as a quarantined centre. The flu has already spread to community. At present, the flu bug here is weak and most recovered fast and we still have about 100 in hospital with about 11 in ICU. I am not travelling anywhere this year. :(
