Making your pizza in school.

We are very lucky to have the students from Diocesan school for girls to help us build our pizza oven. Under the instruction of Ron Sperber of earthwhile.co.nz, they and our senior students built what I dub as a traditional oven using traditional material. They use dirt, sand and wood chips and lots of leg grease.

Changing people's attitude is one aspect of changing the world. At one stage, women couldn't walk past a construction site without being subjected to wolf whistling. Wolf-whistling at women is harassment!

I remember when I was young, construction workers used to call out,

Ah Moi Chantek, Kahwin Ah Pek.. This in Malay means, Pretty girl, marry me, (The old man). Me and my girl friends were very embarrassed. This is pretty tame, some make obscene remarks.

My fellow blogger Ginny tells me that it is not PC to do it.

In 2008, one of Bristol city's leading construction firms, George Wimpey, banned its workers from wolf-whistling. The firm claimed that the comic trill, made up of two rising and descending notes in portamento, was "out of place in the 21st century".

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 – Australian miner Lynas Corp has been granted a temporary operating licence (TOL) for its controversial RM2.5 billion rare earth plant in Kuantan despite nearly a year of sustained public protests.

The Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) said it decided in its January 30 meeting to approve the Australian miner’s application despite receiving 1,123 comments on Lynas’ documents during the public feedback period which ended on January 26.

“Based on the decision of the board meeting, the application for a (TOL) has been approved with several conditions where if any of them are broken, the licence can be suspended or withdrawn and further applications will not be considered,” said AELB executive secretaryl Raja Datuk Abdul Aziz Raja Adnan (picture) in a statement today.

I have frequently posted the movie that impacted me most is Mad Max. It tells of how law and order breaks down, the society is deprived of gas, and people fight like salvages. I refuse to watch any sports that go Vroom Vroom Vroom, and burn the rubber as though gas is going to run forever. In fact, I cry for the world.

This movie happened to be filmed in Australia, the company Lynas is from Australia. I am using one painting by my friend Oliver, to describe how the world will be like Mad max when indiscrimate mining is done. Will the world become Mad Max?

Mad Max is a 1979 Australian dystopian action film directed by George Miller and revised by Miller and Byron Kennedy over the original script by James McCausland. The film stars Mel Gibson, who was unknown at the time. Its narrative based around the traditional western genre, Mad Max tells a story of breakdown of society, love and revenge. It became a top-grossing Australian film and has been credited for further opening up the global market to Australian New Wave films.
