By now, the whole world will have heard of the mine explosion in New Zealand. The devastated families of the Pike River 29 are being urged to cling to hope. It is a slim hope: to find survivors from the massive methane explosion that tore through a West Coast coal mine. As relatives waited on a knife-edge to learn of news of their loved ones early today, a source close to the rescue effort said emergency services were not confident.

Everyone is hoping that the miracle that happened to Chile will be repeated here.

Mine woking: world-wide, one of the most hazardous of occupations.

That's a beautiful picture, and I wish those trapped miners could be there in the fresh air now.

Never fear because the top Aussie mine rescue experts are on their way or are already there, they'll get them out no problem.

Ann....Being that I am freezing here in VA, your ater is not only beautiful but it looks very inviting. Your part of the globe is so gorgeous. Thanks for your visit to my buttonsforbaga and Pink Saturday. You are not going to believe this, but the guys who own that trucking business are just down the road from us, and they are all MEN with LONG - and I mean LONG - gray beards hanging longer than their necks....really nice, country guys. They have more than one pink truck in their fleet. It is amazing!!!!

I heard today about the second explosion at the mine. The broadcasters are saying that all hope for the miners is now gone. Their families are in our prayers.
