ABC Wednesday: Letter G for ground control

httphttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif://abcwednesday-mrsnesbitt.blogspot.com/

I flew to earthquake ravaged Christchurch on Friday late afternoon. The day was still light for me to photograph the ground control tower at the Auckland domestic airport.

Thanks to the hard work to these ground controllers, we can feel confident to step into a plane. I recall not so long ago, some idiot took his son to work and let the kid handle the controls.

They say that the ones who sit in the towers and tell the planes when to land etc., it is the most stressful job!!

This is a good 'G' post. Your statement about ground controllers keeping us safe is right on.

I have a friend who works in the ground control, not at the changi airport tower but on the ground near Changi Beach. They can't see the planes but rely on the electronic gadgets to guide the plane before the tower take over with visual and electronic view of the plane.

Don't take your child to work, especially if you are a ground controller...

A friend of mine was a controller and he ended up having to leave because of the job stress. Great shot and good to know they're getting back to normal there.
