mellow yellow monday/Thursday theme song: I am sailing

http://mellowyellowmonday.blogspot.com/
As New Zealand has water all round her, it is important children know how to be water wise. Our school takes students out to the beach for their lessons. They use an Optimist boat. They brought it back to school one day.
The Optimist is a small, single-handed sailing dinghy intended for use by children up to the age of 15.

hootin--anni has a new meme.
IT'S ALL ABOUT MY NEW MEME THAT I HOPE SOME WILL FEEL LIKE JOINING IN ON THE CHALLENGE AND THE FUN [at least I hope the weekly challenge will be fun!]. It's loosely based on song lyrics [recorded songs since the beginning of time to today] and associating them with photos of yours...as I've done in the past...If you click on the link above, it'll take you to the Meme's Homepage for rules and buttons. There will be a Mr. Linky Widget for each individual week also. Do consider joining me sometime. Hope to see it flourish in time.

Rod Stewart won our hearts in New Zealand when he sailed across the sea to marry our beauty queen Rachel Hunter. However, he broke our hearts when he sailed away from her.

Still, we like his sexy voice.

I am sailing, I am sailing,
Home again cross the sea.
I am sailing, stormy waters,
To be near you, to be free.

I am flying, I am flying,
Like a bird cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds,
To be with you, to be free.

Can you hear me, can you hear me
Thro the dark night, far away,
I am dying, forever trying,
To be with you, who can say.

Can you hear me, can you hear me,
Thro the dark night far away.
I am dying, forever trying,
To be with you, who can say.

We are sailing, we are sailing,
Home again cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
To be near you, to be free.

Oh lord, to be near you, to be free.
Oh lord, to be near you, to be free,
Oh lord.

what a great idea for teaching the children. it is so important that they learn water safety. here in FL the land of lakes and oceans and gulf and many back yard pools, there are many children drowning each year. we need more safety like you have in NZ

'Tis a sweet and colorful little boat!

A TOUCH OF THE GOLD

They say just a touch of the gold
Will make even timid ones bold;
Try yellow, not blue,
And bright amber too—
And don’t be left out in the cold!

HI Ann, I love that song... AND--it's perfect with your picture.. Kids who live near the water DO need to learn how to survive in the water...
Hugs,
Betsy

I remember this song very well!!! And enjoy seeing this unusual boat!! How colorful! All kids need to learn to swim unless they will never ever be around water!

I also remember this song, although it has been quite a while since I last heard it. I think it's wonderful that your school is teaching children to be safe on the water.

I really, really like this little boat and wish I could have gone out on one when I was little. What fun!

Thanks for leaving the comment about your childhood fort in the woods. It was a magical moment there as I almost expected fairies to start dancing, and I'm not surprised it triggered childhood memories.
