Speedway has been part of Auckland's entertainment offering since 1929. The city fathers are wanting to close it for a second time. In 2004 when the council wanted to close it, there was a lot of drama and there was the march and also the petition that raised approx. 56,000 signatures in support of the speedway.
I have never been to a race of midget cars though I have been inside on a non race day to see the track. Supporters of the Speedway argue that it would be a tragedy for the sport and the city if the Speedway was forced to close. They ask to give Auckland's future generations the option to experience great family sporting entertainment in the heart of their city:

Cool looking race car. I've never seen the migit race cars.
haha! this kind of sports involves a lot of crashing,flying... - i think it's fun !
My sons would certainly have loved to see this type of racing when they were younger!
Hi, I have never been to speedway even though there is a very active one in Blenheim.
No I didn't see a partition to make St pats a public Holday again- apparently it did use to be a holiday until about 1970, don't think it will happen again really. Have a good day.
Great outdoor and captures Ann.
Have a great day.
