Blogging has transformed me, I no longer moan and groan when I go for an arduous trip. Instead I see it as a photo opportunity session.
Sam went for a four day Easter Camp, and the Water Engineer went to Rangitoto by a catamaran http://annkschin.blogspot.com/2010/04/sundaystills-easter.html and then for a 4 hour hike. It was difficult because we were climbing up a volcanic cone, and the volcanic rocks made the sole very painful and unsure footing.
But the reward is sweet. Rangitoto is a very young volcano, formed 600 years ago, (1400 AD). It literally means "Bloody sky" in Maori. This makes Rangitoto the last and largest volcano in the Auckland volcanic field.

You certainly are energetic...at 65, and using a walker, I could no longer do this. I love New Zealand, though, and have been there on a cruise many years ago.

It looks like a jungle ! I feel the same as you, blogging has changed me. I go out now and discover things just to be able to take pictures. I would never have seen so many events and things in my country without blogging ! I even went to the Easter Egg hunting yesterday when we had a lousy weather, 5 °C, wet and grey !
I am fascinated by your valcano. Can't imagine to walk by while the valcano is erupting.
Good for you, from one hike to another volcano, while taking these beautiful pictures.
I think, photography, taking photos for my blog is what changed me. I had never observed a reflection in a puddle before and neither would I, if I were blogging about literature. Don't you think?
