Scenic Sunday: Dove in the park

http://scenicsunday.blogspot.com/

I was in a park I had never been by Dominion Road in Sandringham when I saw a pair of white birds. One of it had it's tail fan out like a peacock. Two young boys came and tell me that the birds are doves.

I wonder if they are wild doves, or if they are doves that people set free at a funeral.

It was a week of torrential downpour. The creek was swollen and swift flowing. My mind went back to October when little two year old Aisling Symes drowned in a similar creek, and was found under a concrete covered part of the creek. Her parents set free a dove at her funeral.

I didn't set out writing this post this way, I just wanted to post the photo of the dove at the creek.

Looking at the photos, they prompted me to write as I think of Aisling's mum, Angela. As Christmas approaches, she will feel the pain of Aisling more. She will feel her lost.

It is not by coincidence that I should be on Church Creche duty today at this early morning session. I had been having a bit of a flu couple of weeks back, and I asked J, the co-ordinator if I could swap my duty. She said that I could do this special session when my church, Mt Albert Baptist Church had her children's Christmas production.

It is not by coincidence that as this was a special Creche session, we had no "customers" when R came in with her two children and stayed with them because her son hasn't settled to stay by himself in the Creche.

It is not by coincidence that that R and I are both bereaved mums. Her, a recent one, and me, a twenty year old. We both lost our baby boys.

It is by no coincidence that R would start a conversation on what we do with our late sons this Christmas.

Thank you R. for the talk we had this morning. You don't know those were comforting words.

To all bereaved mums and dads, my thoughts are with you.

My heart goes out to you and your friend on the loss of your sons. Are you familiar with the Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Services on the second Sunday in December? I wrote about it today at Sacred Ruminations where I also shared My Scenic Sunday post.
Hugs and blessings,
