watery wednesday; Outdoor wednesday: Rock water hole

This is among the best place I have been in the Gold Coast. I guess it is also the locals' secret hideaway. Removed from the hustle and bustle of the city and hordes of tourists, families come to play and picnic. The trees provide shade and the water is cool. Best of all, it is free, just a water hole in the bush.

My sister Helen took me with her children. When the weather is scorching 30 degrees, and there was lots of shade under the trees, this place is heavenly. There are eels to attract the children, and tiny fish to give me a foot spa treatment. What a life!

There is a stream where the water falls from cascades to a big water hole. Here boys and girls, men and women risk their lives by jumping, diving and flipping into the water. Some of them descend as high as three storeys up.

I wandered around, there is a big sign warning deaths had occurred, but nobody takes any notice.

The last time I was at Brisbane, it was about 35 degrees celsius, really hot. Have you done your Chinese New Year Shopping?

Ah...now that looks like a wonderful place to sit in the shade of a tree and read a great book while the children swim.

I agree with Debbie. Dangerous, but pretty. Your shot reminds me, I need to have some Watery Wed. shots in the iPhoto events to share. This time of year, cold with high winds, I can't bring myself to seek out water sources.

I can see why kids are attracted to this water hole, especially on a hot summer day.
