Skywatch at Friday: Waitomo Hotel
This turn-of-the-century Waitomo Caves Hotel sits on top of a hill visible from a look out from across the road and when you drive back from the caves. It's grandeur and seclusion makes it a unique historical hotel.
Surrounded by natural bush and beautifully maintained gardens, this stunning country lodge style property is perfect for conferences, meetings and travelers.
The hotel is within walking distance of the Waitomo Caves, Blackwater Rafting, Horse Riding, Angora Farm, Waitomo Museum, Information Centre and Village. You have to go up it's main entrance as the side entrance is now covered with bush and is out of bounds.
We climbed up to the lookout and looked at this grand old lady. We imagined the important people who were guests to this hotel. Alas, we are not in the league of the rich and famous, we stayed in the Top Ten Camping Grounds. Perhaps we should have walked up the slope to have a feel of th eplace and have a cup of tea like people did in the old times.

Will catch up as am only sneaking here in the internet cafe! Thought will let you know that I finally arrived in your beautiful clean and green New Zealand.
No wonder it is called the Land of Long Clouds, I have heaps of clouds to show to all the skywatchers. Amazing!
