Weekend Reflection : Origamy Heavenly crane

Today is the 15th day of the Lunar new Year. I am asked to do a presentation ofl the Story of the Lantern Festival which is a big festival here in Auckland. I had no idea as we didn't celebrate this in Borneo.

Google came to help.

This is my presentation.

Long time ago, King and Princess of the heavens had a crane,

One day the crane fell off the skies and landed on the earth.
Some stupid, greedy and silly people slaughtered the crane.
The King was so angry, he promised fire and brimstone.

The princess came down and Honest apologized.

She had pity on them,
She told them to have lanterns, bon fires, crackers when the moon was full.
On that day, the people made a loud racket.
The princess said," Dad, the earth is on fire. and there is war.
The king saw and heard that, and stopped sending the fire.
This is why people celebrate the lantern festival.

The people also eat little round dumplings in round bowls.
It signifies peace and unity.

元宵节快乐! Today marks the end of Chinese New Year's celebrations - Happy Yuan Xiao Jie!

It is not widely celebrated in Singapore though.
