Thursday Theme Song: 500 miles

I see this train every day on my way home. I wait at the lights on the bridge and I look down at the train stopping at the station. Sometimes I sing this song as I hear the whistle blows. When I was in secondary school, this was a very popular song.

hootin--anni has a new meme.
IT'S ALL ABOUT MY NEW MEME THAT I HOPE SOME WILL FEEL LIKE JOINING IN ON THE CHALLENGE AND THE FUN [at least I hope the weekly challenge will be fun!]. It's loosely based on song lyrics [recorded songs since the beginning of time to today] and associating them with photos of yours...as I've done in the past...If you click on the link above, it'll take you to the Meme's Homepage for rules and buttons. There will be a Mr. Linky Widget for each individual week also. Do consider joining me sometime. Hope to see it flourish in time.

Elvis was so handsome, and is the way I like to remember him by.

500 Miles lyrics
1. If you miss the train, I'm on,
You will know that I am gone.
You can hear the whistle blow
One hundred miles.
One hundred miles, one hundred miles,
One hundred miles, one hundred miles,
You can hear the whistle blow
One hundred miles.

2. Lord, I'm one, lord, Im two,
Lord, I'm three, Lord, I'm four,
Lord, I'm five hundred miles
Away from home.
Five hundred miles, five hundred miles,
Five hundred miles, five hundred miles,
Lord, I'm five hundred miles
Away from home.

3. Not a shirt on my back,
Not a penny to my name.
Lord, I can't go a-home
This a-way.
This a-way, this a-way,
This a-way, this a-way,
Lord, I can't go a-home
This a-way.

Hope you are having a good week..
Hugs,

Wonderful photos of a Railmotor as we call 'em in Oz. The video of Aussie band The Seekers top it right off.

Now that will be running though my mind all day. It is one of my favorites.

I remember this song very well; as a matter of fact, I have it on my iPod. I like the way you tied the song to that pretty train.

That is a beautiful train! I know this song well. Back in the 60's, I had it on vinyl by Peter and Gordon!! I still sometimes hum it, it is memorable! I really like this post!

Wonderful train pictures.
I remember The Seekers doing 500 Miles, and lots of folk groups did it, too. I love the song, but I never knew Elvis sang it.

Your photos of the train are wonderful. I remember this song very well, my friends and I use to sing it around the campfire in my backpacking days.
