weekend reflection: 9/11

http://newtowndailyphoto.blogspot.com/

My take for this week is a reflection of a different kind.

9/11 or September 11th.
Where were you on that day?

As for me,
It was evening in Singapore.
I was watching TV.
Then came the news flash.
I saw the plane crash into tower 2.
I couldn't believe my eyes.
It was Reality TV.

We went to New York in 1992,
We went to the World Trade center,
We went up the tower.
We watched the rest of New York from high up.

And now, the towers are gone.
Who could have done such an evil thing?
That almost 3000 would perish.
And how many become bereaved?
I am a bereaved mum.
I cry for those mums at Ground Zero.

Why? We ask?
Is there any truth with the conspiracy theories?
Why would people spin such tales?
Why? Oh why?

9/11 was truly a sad day, not only for those who died and their loved ones, but one that set the world to go down a very different path, not one I am at ease with at all. A friend of mine to this day is among many who believe the truth of that day has been buried: http://pgholme.blogspot.com/2010/09/coincidence.html

and we still live the consequences of this day. So many soldiers died in Irak, there are still soldiers dying in Afghanistan and Ben Laden is still hiding somewhere.

A horrible remembrance for everyone. It would be good if all bloggers post where they were when it happened.

It was lunch time in Portugal when the first plain hit the tower. The telephones started ringing like crazy for one hour or so and then: silence! The country has just stopped and everyone was glued on tv. I remember this as if it was yesterday!
