At the west of Auckland, is the iron sandy beach of Muriwai. The surfs are beautiful, and fishing great if you are brave for extreme fishing. I don't know if the men go for the thrill or for the fish.

The gannets come from Australia every year. The best time to visit the gannets is between October in February. The chicks hatch in November then leave for Australia at 15 weeks old returning to breed when they are 3 and seven years old.

There is a hole in the rugged cliff. I have not ventured inside because the waves can come in and cut you off.

The beach there looks wonderful. I do love the diversity of NZ shore lines.

I think the link between our two countries through the birds is enchanting and this cave here

Strangely scary, especially the thought of getting cut off by the sea. I too would not venture inside, though I'd love to take a closer look. Thanks Ann.

Thew cave sounds dangerous, but looks adventurous.

But I better go hiking than going inside this cave.

What a pretty scene! I'd bring a blanket to sit on, some snacks and a good book and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

This is truly beautiful. I took an inflatable canoe into a wet cave in Kuwai, HI once but this place looks even better! Great Pix as usual!
