ABC Wednesday: Letter Y for yacht
http://abcwednesdayround3.blogspot.com/
ABC Wednesday is hosted by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt
These are yachts in Auckland. I took the photo are Okahu Bay.
The second most famous yacht is a gigantic monohull called New Zealand or KZ1 . The boat was built by Steve Martin in Mt Wellington, Auckland and was launched on March 27, 1988.
Skippered by David Barnes with tactician Peter Lester, she was 23.47m along the waterline or 90ft, and was said to be the fastest monohull keelboat in the world at the time. However, American Conner exploited the regulations to the fullest extent and built a catamaran. Conner beat KZ1 easily in every race, although Fay tried and failed to outlaw Conner's catamaran in court.
KZ1 is on display in the Viaduct Harbour, outside the entrance to the New Zealand National Maritime Museum, Auckland, New Zealand.
This year, they have lights on the yacht during Christmas.
The most famous Yacht is the one sailed by Sir Peter Blake. You can see NZL3 on this site http://annkschin.blogspot.com/2009/12/sunday-still-maritime-technology.html

I'd like to spend a day sailing on the yacht.
That yacht is YAR!
There aren't many things to illustrate "Y", these are beautiful. We saw racing yachts out on the water when we were in Auckland. I don't know that they were these but they sure were beautiful to watch.
I yearn to yacht away to sunshine and water. Great post!
