Yellow Mellow:I found my Mack

http://mellowyellowmonday.blogspot.com/
Last December I posted that I was looking for a Mack and explained why.(see below) I went to Australia, where the land was very big and there was bound to be Macks. Indeed there were, but Macks go vroom vroom vroom very fast. Before I can whip up my camera, the Macho MACK had zoomed past. So I didn't find my Mack.

I came back to New Zealand and continue on my mission to find my Mack. I finally found one. He wasn't exactly what I had in mind, he was a concrete mixer, not a big truck.

This is part of my old post.

Now, I am looking for a MACK. I told Ed that I have been looking for a MACK for a long time. My ESL adult student calls himself MACK.

I asked," Is it Mike?"
He said," No!"
I probed," Is it Micke?"
He replied," No!"
I asked," Is it Mick?"
He started feeling irritable," No!"
I asked," Is it Mitch?" thinking of David Hasselhoff
He said," NO!!!! It is MACK, I saw it in an American Magazine."

The next class, he brought the magazine. He gave it to me. It was a trucking magazine/catalogue.
There was his MACK. Proud and strong.
I said," Very Macho!" I should never have doubted him.

Chevrolet Truck

Blogger Carnom told Ed she always wanted a Chervy truck when she was young.

Here you are, you should be getting it from the next shipment from New Zealand on your next birthday. Sorry it is not purple. LOL

Triumph 2000

This is not a big car by American Standards but on New Zealand roads, it can turn some people's head. It's a car made with  interior complete with wood veneer door cappings and dashboard .

The Prime Minister Rob Muldoon, in the 70s drove his private Triumph 2500 to work.

It has been commented on many, many times, that when the Triumph 2000 and Rover P6 exploded onto the scene, in 1963, they both revolutionised the luxury car market. Certainly, in the UK, things would never look the same again, as a 2-litre executive car could offer everything that the British middle manager could ever possibly need. At a stroke, the more cumbersome 3-litre opposition looked rather past their collective sell-by dates - the more efficient Triumph and Rover products showed that a bigger engine did not neccessarily lead to executive bliss. In the UK, a new market sector was effectively created, and executives never looked back - as they now had a choice of two young and dynamic products.

For you, Patty, a British made car.

Big cars

Fellow blogger Mary posted on her maryswritingnook memories-of-beautiful-cars.html She had such beautiful big cars. I chatted with her that in Borneo when I was growing up, we would just admire the timber tycoons with their big cars. We called aeroplane cars as they had wings at the back.

I remember this photo which I took about two weeks ago. At that time, it was waiting at the traffic lights and it must have stirred up memories of those days when my dad drove a little Fiat and we wished we had one of these big aeroplane cars.

In the 70s, when I was a student at Windsor University, sometimes my friends rented an oldsmobile car. It was big, and it was the closest I got to riding in  big cars.

Hot dog vendor

I drive pass this road every day after school and this is the rare occasion I see this hot dog and ice cream, tea coffee vendor. This is so Kiwi (New Zealand) that they must have their cup of tea.

Mobile vendors remind me of my friendMartin when we were students in the University of Windsor in Canada. He had a job selling ice cream cones, he was given a specific area to sell his ware. Unfortunately for him, it was very far from where we lived.

Wheels: Ready mix concrete truck

One seldom sees the back of a heavy vehicle.

I posted photos of these concrete trucks in my other blog.

One morning, I was running late. We were in a traffic jam. I was late for work. I was stuck at the back of this ready mixed concrete truck. It was fuming. I was fuming. It was a muggy morning. I was really late for work. Luckily my boss didn't see me, otherwise she would be fuming too.
