Same here, even knowing and getting pricked I still cannot resist touching it when I was a kid. :)

So true, when I told my grandkids not to touch some cacti so they wouldn't get stuck, they immediately started touching them to find out.

I can imagine ... I stopped by a field to take photos of cacti ... I must have brushed against one and didn't realized until I returned to my car -- I had spikes stuck in my pant leg, and had a difficult time removing. Found more in the layers later in the evening. Ouch!!

they are pretty. we have prickly pears that grow here and they have the tiniest but painful spines.
