Weekend Reflection: Australia Straw-Cameron Highlands dry flower

My friend Connie gave me this bouquet of flowers. It reminded me of my mum coming home from a holiday in the Cameron Highlands of Malaysia. These dry ornament flowers were made into things, and most people just call them Cameron Highlands Dry Flowers.

Connie grows them in her garden in Auckland New Zealand. If you know the name, please tell me.

Addition: After posting this, my new facebook friend from MOTP very quickly responded that she thought it is a native from Australia. With this clue, I was able to research and found the information below. Thank you Irene.

Strawflower is also called paper daisies. They dry on the plant and look like dried flowers. They are

used in dried flower arrangements, wreaths, and even homemade potpourri.

This easy-to-grow, sun-loving annual heralds from Australia and is a great pick for hot, dry sites. Plant it outdoors after all danger of frost has passed in spring.

This is perfect memory of my mum. Thanks Connie, Siong and Irene.
