Southport State School students are the first to benefit from GoldLinQ’s Love Learning campaign.The campaign, which was launched by Minister for Education Mr John Paul Langbroek and Goldlinq on Friday, aims to provide opportunities for local kids and create partnerships between GoldLinQ and local schools.GoldLinQ CEO, Phil Mumford said the Love Learning brand was developed to align with the project’s innovative Love Our City business support program.“It will provide a lasting legacy by connecting students, the public transport users of the future, with Queensland’s first light rail system,” he said.“Southport State School is just one partner in the Love Learning initiative as GoldLinQ rolls out opportunities across the Gold Coast in the coming years.”Six more community grants valued up to $2,000 will be announced soon, with two further rounds available in 2013.Southport State School will use the money to line mark their new outdoor basketball court.

I bought this reel of fishing line not to go fishing 

but for my students to string beads together. It is made in Japan

and I am amazed that there is quite a bit of sophistication

involved when you buy the line. I suppose if you buy a line

not strong enough, it will snap if you land a 10 pounder fish.

I grew up In Borneo, my Rejang River is very big, and there were creeks, my maternal grand dad had fish ponds. I grew up fishing.

When I came to New Zealand, I taught English as a second language. One of my students was a Vietnamese boy. He tells me," Girls NOT allowed."

This photo almost confirms what he said. There was no woman in the group.








My second brother, is a fisherman hobbyist, if there such a word. applies here. He enjoys the peace and tranquillity when he goes fishing with his mates. And then when the fish bites, there is a lot of excitement.

He took me fishing once, at 4 am in the morning. Even doped with the anti-seasickness pill, I was still groggy. I told him, "Thanks, Joseph, having fished once in the deep blue ocean is good enough for me."

We caught a lot of ray sharks that day.

I wonder when he is in his law firm, if he dreams of fishing.
