ABC WEdnesday: K for Kiwi
httphttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif://abcwednesday-mrsnesbitt.blogspot.com/
The Kiwi, the iconic bird of New Zealand. It doesn't fly, it stays in the dark, but the New Zealanders have affectionately called themselves Kiwis.
Roger is right, it is not a real Kiwi. I bought it for my students. Real Kiwis are protected and I can't keep one in my classroom.
At one stage, people were considered Kiwis who were born in New Zealand. Now, they use it as a NZ citizen. I teach immigrant kids, and I get a lot of arguments ," You are not a Kiwi."

This is a very cute stuffed bird. Can the kiwi not fly, are they unable? They must have a lot of predators then!
Cute Ann.... I like seeing your ABC Wednesdays.. You always come up with something interesting.
Hugs,
Betsy
I'm pretty sure that's not a REAL kiwi. ha.

Thanks for a cute 'K' post. You're a Kiwi as far as I'm concerned.
What a great little bird. Like Betsy, I always like your ABC Wednesdays, I'm tempted to join.
K for kawan, not Kia Su.
I suspect you aren't viewed as a Kiwi any more than I am Filipino, even if I've lived here over 20 years. I like kiwi fruit, too.
[It was a monster typhoon, but we live in a pretty safe corner of Manila, a bit on a hill, so we don't see flooding. But it rained hard for two days, and a broken internet cable cut our access for 20 hours, but that's minor inconvenience compared to what some suffered. I have a link to photos on today's post.]
Hello.
This is a cute bird.
Thanks for the little snippet. I always learn something new whenever I visit ABC Wednesday.
