That's a good question. I guess it is so they are easier to see.
Because it's a bright color every can see !

Ambulances and other vehicles are high-visibility yellow to make them easier to see.
Well seen! I think they are white in Norway.
I remember reading somewhere that yellow was the most visible of all colors. I like to wear a bright yellow shirt when riding my bicycle.
Rat tunnels indeed...shudder. And no I have had no contact with Phi. I wouldn't know where to begin.
