ABC Wednesday: Letter X for Xin Loi

http://abcwednesday-mrsnesbitt.blogspot.com/

XIN LOI :
(sin loy) a polite Vietnamese phrase literally meaning "excuse me" or "pardon me", but used sardonically by GIs to mean "sorry about that", "too damn bad", or "tough shit";

The tunnels of Cu Chi were dug for the Vietcong recluse. Every city is ringed by miles of intricate tunnels; Tunnel rats' in the Vietnam War was the name given to U.S. soldiers who explored tunnels dug and used by the enemy. The Cu Ci tunnels are now a tourist attraction.

My friend Ling Choon Ming and his wife visited Saigon or Ho Chi Ming City and is photographed trying out one of the rat tunnels.

Thanks, Choon Ming for your photo and sharing your adventure.

That's rather black humor ! I mean now it's interesting for tourists, but I just think when it was in use !
You are early, here it's still tuesday afternoon and I am melting in the heat ! we have near 40°C, I think that never happened in Belgium.

Gosh, it doesn't even look like a tunnel is there. It just looks like she is being buried!!

Ah, so that's NOT a very short person. Glad to know that.
Yes, it's true that things that were once awful sometimes becomes a tourist attraction. How odd.

Wow what an interesting piece of History.
I smiled as it looked like a kid playing in the leaves....

seems to be an eXceedingly small opening to that tunnel! Time heals sometimes.

Yuck! Intersting, but I would not go near a rat tunnel! Great "X" post.

How so very interesting. I would have never even come close to guessing the meaning of Xin Loi....tho, I must say I pronounced it correctly before your help. You do know that you'd make a very good teacher. [kidding]....I KNOW you're a good teacher.
