Sand dunes at Bethells

Drive 30 to 40 minutes out west of Auckland, and you walk another kilometer of desert sand, you get to the sand dunes. After a tiring climb, you enjoy a nice swim at Lake Wainamu http://annkschin.blogspot.com/2009/01/lake-wainamu.html Or just round the corner, you swim at the beach.

Auckland is never far from the sea.

That's awesome waves Ann! I can make salt out of those pristine bubbly waves. Also I like jumping on sand dunes till my feet are completely buried in the sand. You make Auckland sound palatable to me. hehe.

I think we are going there for only 15 days. Thanks for asking Ann. If there's anything you want from Australia, please let me know so that I can get them ready for you.

Oh the place is so big and beautiful. I enlarge the photo and saw that the people in the photo are so small, it meant the whole place is so huge. Very lovely.

Alice,

Those tiny people were us, my husband likes to go there a lot. We "walk" down the sand dune (sometimes, i sit on my bum and slide down) and then climb up. It is very hard to climb up, because each step you climb, you slide down 2/3 of the way. I usually do just once and that symbolically means I have done my climb. Sam goes up and down without any trouble. Must be his karate training.
