Friday Photo Shoot Out: Architecture

Friday Photo Shoot Out: Architecture
This is the Auckland War Memorial Museum
Located at the Auckland Domain, this is a wonderful building. The front facade of the museum is usually photographed. I thought, the side is "always the bride maid, never the bride." So I decided to take the photo from that side.
This is one of the most iconic Auckland buildings, constructed in the neo-classicist style, and sitting on a grassed plinth (the remains of a dormant volcano) in the Auckland Domain, a large public park close to the Auckland CBD.

The museum was established in 1852, the present heritage building in the Domain being opened in 1929. It was extended in the late 1950s, when an administration annex with a large semi-circular courtyard was added to the southern rear.
The museum has significant collections of natural, social, military history and culture related to New Zealand and the South Pacific.
On Anzac Day and Armistice-day. The people remember those who fought in the wars. If you click this link, you will see my other photos including a front facade.

An excellent choice. It just goes to show that one does not have to post a whole lot of photos to participate. You picked a great subject and gave us the history.

Thank you for joining us. Next week
it is gardens, garden tools, and gardens!

I love the tilt you did on the last photo.

I like the idea of one building one story. I always end up with 3000 photos and a story so long I dont think it get read.... if I was the one going through all the blogs I wouln't read it.... I LIKE the built on a dormant volcano... dormant for how long.... do they promise it will stay that way?
