Tucked in one corner of Auckland Domain,
Where almost nobody goes,
And nobody could see,
And nobody knows.
Is this man made lake,
and three statues.
Built to commemorate Auckland's 100 years.
In the middle, is Auckland finding strength.
On the right, is Wisdom presenting a Bay leaf.
On the right, is fertility, offering a Cornucopia.
I wish there are more signs, to lead people to see this sight.
love the pond :-)

There will be more stories if there are signs to lead you all the way.
ReplyDeleteA pity I did not see this when I was there. Lovely reflections in the pond
ReplyDeleteI am Latvian by birth, and yes, I am writing my story Ann, although I am taking my time about it with all the hospital interruptions I have had and lately ferrying the Prof to various medical practitioners and scans.
Thanks for the comment.
Pity places like this remain unvisited and unloved. Wonder why they bother to build it and then not let people know.
ReplyDeleteThat pond, the greenery, the statues...it's all so peaceful and lovely.

Oh, how lovely!! So not too many people know about this? Well, I love the curvy edge of the little lake, and I must say that I love your reflection photo even more than the statues!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful photos and words, Ann.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame more people don't know about this treasure. Perhaps your blog will help. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous, Ann... They should promote them more.... At one time, someone obviously put them there for others' to enjoy....
ReplyDeleteLove the statues --and of course the pond... I need some wisdom... Can you get wisdom if you TOUCH that statue???? ha ha
Have a great week.
Hugs,
Betsy

ReplyDeletealoha ann,
ReplyDeleteyou have captured some beautiful water views of this fountain and history, thanks for sharing this
my water views are on my sari site today
Very nice. I love spots like this, a little out of the way but worth seeking out.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful spot to sit and contemplate the history of Auckland! Six or seven years ago, the older grandson asked how far it was to Gettysburg. They were studying the Civil War in school and he wanted to see for himself. We took him then and have continued to visit from time to time.
