watery Wednesday: Rejang River

Rejang river was clean to swim when I was little. It was the best recreation we had when we visited our grand parents.

In Sibu town, Dad and Mum bundled us in our old Fiat and go to the little park next to the Chinese temple along the Rejang River.
There, we watched the stevedores unload the ocean going ship. We marveled how our little river could accommodate these giants ninety miles from the sea.

Alas, pollution had killed the 350 miles long river. I doubt if any one still swims in it. The water is brown and silky. The bed needs to be dredged before these giants can come in.
