ABC Wednesday: Letter H

I have been teaching healthy food to my students, and this is what thinking outside the square is. Sarah Turner, the principal of the Kids Forever Preschool in Mt Albert, Auckland and her staff drew happy and funny faces on oranges to encourage them to eat healthy food without their conscious awareness that they are actually eating healthy food. Paki Paki Sarah and co.

From healthy to something sinfully tasty is my brother Charles' ham. Charles is a lawyer by trade but I suspect he is secretly wishing to be Masterchef Australia. Here he is, sharing with my son his secret recipe.

    The oranges are so cute, what a great idea! That is the biggest ham I've ever seen, but how great watching the transformation, and now I really want some!! It looks sooooo good!

    That's one huge ham! love those faces on the oranges.
    I love eating oranges especially those that can be peeled easily. During the Chinese New Year celebrations I bought oranges by the box too, and would eat them daily!

    Tsk... American mothers say, hey, eat your food, it's good for you, while European mothers say, hey, it's good! I prefer the European way. I'm not a big fan of oranges - too lazy to peel them - but I adore fresh squeezed oj. The ham looks delicious - good for your brother - and for your cute son for learning. My sweetie is the usual cook in our family, but that's because I adore his Chinese style cooking and he's not as fond of my European style (which has a lot of cheese, that he doesn't eat at all, like most Cantonese).

    First of all thanks so much for your answer in my blog today.You are always so kind.
    I love the idea about healthy food.I used to work as a music and arts teacher in Brazil, many years ago, and I remember that once my students and I made drawings in orange peel, it was fun and the kids loved it!Thanks for this memories!
    And you brother is very talented, I'm impressed by this HUGE ham, it looks delicious!Yummy! :)

    Cute and healthy oranges are great and the ham looks delicious! We had some ham flavored with cloves (and pineapple) recently, but with just two of us, we bought a slice. Thanks for your comment on My World. I am not a member of any of the auto clubs, I just enjoy seeing and photographing them.

    The oranges are funny and cute but that ham looks delicious.
    To answer your question about the government, yes and no. Yes because I didn't want a Liberal gov, but no because I think it will be unworkable. The Independants shouls not have given their vote to either party - we should have gone back to the polls.

    That's a great idea with the oranges. When I was growing up, they were a rare treat, so it wasn't hard to get us to eat them. That ham looks delicious once it's cooked.

    RE: What do you call this style?

    these are half-timbered houses, in germany (where they are) they call it "fachwerkhaus" in dutch "vakwerkhuizen" that is all I know.
